Job description
Vertical Scope Group (VSG) is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to work with an established SQL Server environment. You will be working heavily on Performance Tuning, Query Optimisation and Indexing, as well as High Availability and other DBA tasks. You will have strong production DBA experience and expert SQL Server knowledge; ideally, you have worked with very large data sets and in a highly transactional setting.
Scope:
Implement and support ICT operations and sustainment of enterprise services (hardware, software).
Install, configure and maintain virtual infrastructure solutions.
Manage system backups, develop automation tasks where required.
Liaise with enterprise service providers.
Maintain system documentation and performance levels.
Advise stakeholders on various operations and services.
Participate in the continual improvement cycle by delivering improvements to processes and technologies used.
Have some experience and/or exposure to database development (SQL, PL/SQL, VBScript etc) and have an understanding of database platforms
Skills and expertise required:
Strong SQL Server DBA experience
Expert SQL Server Knowledge, SQL Server Internals, Database Engine
Performance Tuning & Monitoring, Query Optimisation
Indexes & Clustering
High Availability, Replication, CDC, Logshipping
Additional highly desirable skills include:
Experience of working with very large databases and data sets
Experience of working in highly transactional database environments
