Vertical Scope Group are exclusively recruiting for our long-term US customer to secure the new Human Resource Director to lead the HR function in an expansive and classified site in Australia.

This strategic HR position answers to the Executive and is likely one of the most unique and complex HR positions in the country. We have supported the site for many years this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and position. You will require considerable stakeholder management, subcontractor and operational HR. You will be involved in strategic initiatives as well as being a generalist and you will manage your existing team and be involved in the day to day operations as you manage this multi-national workforce. Experience with US Labour law would be an advantage although this can be learnt and applied on the job. This highly rewarding position will utilise your stakeholder and relationship management and you will need to communicate with influence. You will be supported by the HR team and executive as well as the current HR Director who will make themselves available to you to assist you to come up to speed and transition you across the environment.

This position is generously remunerated and complimented by a comprehensive Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and there are significant allowances for you and your family if you have to relocate to this location including full paid relocation for you, your family and all possessions. This position is located in another location as VSG are conducting a nationwide and international search for this individual. Ideally, you will have previous defence/government experience in a senior HR position however all applicants will be considered don their merits.

Position responsibilities:

  • Assisting and partnering with other business units in the achievement of business goals and in the development and implementation of supporting human resource strategy and initiatives.

  • Ensure HR operational requirements are met for the business.

  • Lead and manage subordinates including assignment and monitoring of work, development, communication, reward and recognition and managing overall performance.

  • Managing employee performance management and compensation process within the business units.

  • Facilitate leadership succession planning.

  • Support, facilitate and/or conduct employee development efforts including identifying new development requirements to support business goals and objectives.

  • Implement processes and promote employee communication and rewards and recognition efforts throughout the business units.

  • Develop, implement and oversee efforts to promote diversity, outreach efforts and compensation equity. Monitor implementation of the business unit(s) Affirmative Action Programs (AAPs) to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  • Communicate and provide guidance to managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures and instructions to ensure compliance.

Mandatory requirements:

  • NV1 security clearance minimum, NV2 or PV security clearance is ideal (you will need to commence your PV security clearance once being accepted in the position)

  • Possess a superior understanding of Australian HR laws and policy

  • Ideally, you will have prior defence/government experience in a senior HR position

  • Ideally, you will have experience of knowledge of US labour laws
