Are you an IT Security Specialist who is an expert in all things Cyber Security? Join team VSG on this AIC project!
VSG are responding to a request from a prominent Federal Government Agency, part of the Australian Intelligence Community, whom we have a strong relationship with and current team, to support them on this project.
The department has committed to enhancing existing cyber capabilities over a 3-year roadmap. The capabilities span: Security Assessment, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM); Continuous Monitoring; User Monitoring; and Incident Response.
We are seeking IT Security Specialists in the following areas to join our team:
Engineering – Capability Development
- Integrate new systems with cyber capabilities to ensure coverage and collection of valuable audit events.
- Develop and enhance technical capabilities detailed in the cyber capability roadmap, covering:
- Audit and response (SIEM).
- Vulnerability management.
- Automated patching and security testing.
Assurance – Continuous Monitoring
- Expand coverage of vulnerability management and patching across systems and classifications.\
- Perform continuous monitoring activities to remediate identified vulnerabilities, including:

- Vulnerability management within context of the system.
- Penetration testing and configuration analysis.
- Development of critical patch / mitigation / remediation reports.
- Reporting and education of cyber security vulnerabilities to inform system owners / managers and improve cyber defence.
Assurance – Security Assessment
- Develop and enhance security assessment capability, models and processes to streamline authorisation and improve security posture.
- Undertake security assessment of ICT systems and platforms covering:

- Development of security assessment test plans.
- Performing on system security control validation.
- Documenting the security assessment and Plan of Action and Milestones reports (POA&M).
Operations – Audit Analysis and Response
- Monitor security capabilities for issues, events, IOCs and suspected intrusions across systems / classifications.
- Lead technical response activities for confirmed incidents ensuring timely action and reporting ids provided to key stakeholders.
- Develop technical response processes and plans for confirmed security incidents.
- Research, identify and maintain audit use cases by engaging customers, developing detailed requirements, and evaluating / monitoring effectiveness.

These VSG contract or permanent positions will offer our consultants market leading rates of up to $180p/h (CoE) or permanent salaries $280,000 (CoE).
Estimated start date: May 2nd 2022
Location of work: Canberra, ACT
Security Clearance: Minimum NV2 (PV preferred)
Contract: 12 months + further period(s) available
Rate: $180 p/h (CoE)
