Join Vertical Scope Group (VSG) as we are now inviting expressions of interest for Expert, Trusted and Reputable Chemical and Process Engineering Professionals at all levels of knowledge and experience from Defence Support Services (DSS) Levels 1-5 (Associate, Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner, Expert, Pre-eminent Advisor) to join our submission for a multi-year, Engineering Design Services panel.

 

We want high performing, highly experienced professionals that have background in Engineering, that can work across the board to implement the next phase of Australia’s innovative solutions and advancements in Nuclear Science and Technology.

Vertical Scope Group is securing an experienced Chemical and Process Engineer to join our award-winning Professional Services Division to be included in our submission. If successful, and if you are listed as a named consultant in our submission, VSG will always offer you first choice and opportunity of any work that is released to us.

As a Chemical and Process Engineer, Ideally, you will possess experience in:

  • Software operation and expertise: HYSYS, Mathematica, Fluid Flow, AFT Impulse (water hammer), 3Eplus, Aspen Plus
  • Thermo hydraulic calculations
  • Fluid dynamics & Heat transfer through CFD
  • Nuclear Process Engineering: cooling system, decay system, purification system, radioactive waste management, control logic strategy, pneumatic transport system, instrumentation of process equipment, CNS process -He cooling and compression, D2 transport and control-, LOCA evaluation, Heavy Water purification and management, nuclear resins, containment energy removal (CERS).
  • Cryogenic systems review, upgrade, modification: He, D2, H2, Freons, NH3, liquid gases: N2, Ar, Air
  • P&ID and PFD design and review
  • Technical specification of equipment and process system
  • Commissioning plan, procedure and execution on process systems and equipment.
  • Process descriptions and Functional descriptions
  • Equipment Data sheets, List and Calculations Report
  • Valve selection: type, materials, function and operation
  • Equipment selection for process services: pump, compressor, blowers, chiller, resins columns, chemical reactor, towers, driers, expanders, tanks, heat exchange, heater, coils, fan, distributors, tank mixers -solid, liquids-, decanters.
  • Pressure drop calculations
  • Corrosion evaluation, chemical compatibility, and material selection for process
  • Design basis of equipment and process (e.g Design/operation pressure/temperature, relief set point, normal and accidental conditions)
  • Investigation of process equipment and system failures
  • Heat and mass transfer calculation: Heat exchangers, dryers, calciners, evaporators, cooling towers, radionuclide transport in pool and cooling systems, exothermic reaction -runaway risk, over heating-, waste evaporator (B57)
  • Catalysis: deuterium/hydrogen conversion systems.
  • Calculation Report: fluidic, thermodynamic and chemical reaction
  • Drying, storage, transport, phase transformation, chemical reaction of inert or radioactive materials, liquid, solid or gas.
  • Heating by steam. Boiler systems review.
  • Vacuum technology: medium and high. Pump selection -material, technology- , leak rate, pipe design, vacuum transport, impedance calculation
  • Noise calculation and approval under sonic speed condition (e.g. pressure relief devices)
  • Design maintenance strategy of systems and contribute to the maintenance strategy of equipment
  • Review process documents: P&ID, PFD, Mass and energy balances, system description, data sheet, calculation report, technical specification of process equipment.
  • Design Radioactive transport and sampling system: Iodine sampling, aerosol sampling, radioactive liquid sampling systems (operative and waste liquids)
  • Cooling towers chemistry, water purification systems design (DEMI water nuclear quality )
  • Cryo purification of gas streams (cold traps design), off gas treatment (e.g. SYMO off gas, B20 gas treatment)
  • Radiopharmaceutical specific process design (e.g. Lu, I, Mo, etc), waste treatment and management
  • Conceptual analysis of process through process safety tools: HAZOP, HAZIP, What If.
  • Cost estimation of process systems, process alternatives, cost comparation of complexities in process.
  • Quality control on nuclear process system: P&IDs consistence, process variables definition (DP, DT,OP,OT, material compatibility), National and international standards applicable, good engineering practice in nuclear process and chemical.
  • Baseline (min.) – TS PV security clearance desirable
  • Australian Citizenship is essential
