Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security Expert
This week we spotlight a PhD qualified senior cyber security expert who works within the Critical Infrastructure (CI) area of an Australian Government National Security Department.
Our professional has over 15 years’ experience helping different global organisations and national security agencies to manage risks both manmade and natural. They have proven experience in developing cyber security conditions for all Australian CI sectors under regulatory frameworks. More recently they have been influential on the delivery of cyber uplift program by the ASD, particularly for Systems of National Significance (SoNS) and Defence.
They possess deep expertise working in cyber security for cyber physical systems and issues related to convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments. Have spent many years working with national and international cyber security communities to identify ways to build resilience in complex interdependent CI networks.
Their previous academic/research roles before joining the APS improved the operational efficiency of the global organisations in Australian and international settings –sharpening their understanding of different emerging technologies and skills to lead multidisciplinary teams/projects. They have spoken at numerous internal and external industry conferences and conducted training sessions about cyber security and CI networks throughout their career.
One of their professional goals is to raise the cyber security awareness and assist to improve national security. As this can be only achieved via wider collaboration among industries and government, they are seeking to join an organisation delivering cyber security risk or resilience projects supporting critical infrastructure, including defence and associated areas. Ideally the role would accommodate their strong skills and expertise in defence, national security, critical infrastructure security and resilience, program management, and cyber security uplift.
