VSG have been invited by our Defence customer to provide an experienced Scientific and Engineering team who are passionate about delivering mission critical capability to the Department of Defence.

We are seeking multiple General, Electronic, Mechanical, and Chemical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants to join our award winning, security cleared consulting team and work with us to deliver this project.

Our team will:

  1. Work closely with the customers and other contractors to conduct testing and evaluation of weapon systems, sub-systems and components and associated system documentation within a high security laboratory environment.
  2. Develop, enhance and maintain capabilities and actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel is essential.
  3. Work with the customer across a number of scientific and technical disciplines to provide the information required in a timely manner.
  4. Give presentations of outcomes to representatives of Defence, Industry and other agencies.
  5. Ensure the program security requirements are met and sustained.
  6. Work within a high security environment and work with complex ICT systems and document and material management systems in such environments.

Laboratory technicians and assistants will assist the wider scientific and engineering team in the maintenance of professional, scientific and engineering standards, possessing a good understanding of the application of scientific and engineering theory.

Working under routine direction, you will ensure the completion of routine scientific and engineering tasks within the framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures. You will have a good knowledge of technical terms, processes and practices related to Weapons Systems technology.

There are multiple positions within our team for General, Electronic, Mechanical, and Chemical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants

General laboratory technician/assistant

You will assist in the operation of test equipment capturing and documenting results. The ability to script compute control of test equipment is highly desirable.

Electronics laboratory technician/assistant

You will prototype, repair, test and evaluate circuits and to assist in the operation of test equipment capturing and documenting results. The ability to script compute control of test equipment and to work with RF circuit are highly desirable skills.

Electro-mechanical technician

You will support the implementation of mechanical and mechatronic systems that support the safe evaluation of weapon systems such as dedicated remote posts and equipment mounts. Good experience with a wide range of machinery and the maintenance of workshop areas to facilitate high standard delivery will be critical to supporting the program.

Chemical laboratory technician

You will provide chemical analytical services in an accurate, timely and cost-effective manner. Knowledge and understanding of the discipline of analytical chemistry as it relates to weapon system components, and hazardous materials identification. This should include maintenance and sustainment of relevant instrumentation, procedure and assurance systems.

Salary: Up to $160,000 - Commensurate on ability and experience; open to discussing alternative arrangements
