Experienced Database Administrators required to work with Team Vertical Scope Group as technical advocates within the Australian Intelligence Community.

This will give YOU the opportunity to work on projects of national significance and be rewarded with enticing rates of up to $140 per hour!

You will be in a customer-facing advanced support engineer role, responsible for proactive support. You will solve complex and critical customer issues using strong interpersonal skills and relationship management. You will report customer status to management while operating highly autonomously.

We are seeking high calibre, experienced and talented database administrators who share core values and purpose of transforming the world of business, and developing the tools to outpace change!

The successful candidate will possess a PV Security Clearance; however, we will consider those with lower clearances (e.g., Baseline, NV1, NV2) for other projects we are involved in.

This is a Canberra-based role, offering exceptional rates of up to $140 per hour (commensurate to experience)!

You will:

  • Provide database platform support and management to customers including:
    • Problem identification and incident resolution
    • Identify pro-active problem avoidance measures
    • Design, installation, and configuration advise for deployment and management
    • Transfer knowledge of best practice processes and procedures to the organisation’s support team
    • Act as the trusted advisor and mentor the customer’s in-house staff
    • Advise of software lifecycle guidance e.g. patching, upgrades and migration timelines
  • Be responsible for the end-to-end adoption lifecycle
  • Be highly technically competent and customer focused
  • Identify improvement areas based on the customer’s existing topology
  • Work with the cloud sales team to drive strategy
  • Develop solutions in-line with the customer’s overall current and future requirements
  • Champion emerging technologies and outline how they will add value to the customer
  • Provide technical advice to the client’s project managers relating to implementation/deployment strategies

Ideally you possess some of the following (we still want to talk to you if you don’t!):

  • 3+ years’ experience of database products, including:
    • Backup and disaster recovery
    • Performance optimisation
    • Security
    • Clustering knowledge
  • Advanced architecture skills in the areas high/maximum availability
  • Understanding ITIL v3/4 processes
  • Be enthusiastic and motivated
  • Hold strong business acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
